Getting Things Done, Part One

I see few people that allow themselves the time to get clean and current with their e-mail inbox. If you think back, when was the last time you actually left work feeling that you had accomplished everything? Tied up all the knots! Paid all the Bills! And organized your desk! If you say always, then well done – you are working productively and you can skip this. If you say no or never, then perhaps its time consider the following.

Are you using the latest version of Flash in your web browser? If you have an older version of Adobe Flash you may be vulnerable to malware attacks.

Update your browser's flash plugin by visiting http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer. Note: you will need to do this for each browser if you use more than one (e.g. Firefox and Internet Explorer).

Alternatively, Firefox users can block flash completely by using the NoScript add-on.

Energy efficiency is a hot topic these days and is part of the NZ government's energy strategy, which was published last month.

Avoid OOS / RSI by taking a break from your computer

Occupational Overuse Syndrome (OOS) is a risk for those who spend long periods working on computers. There are plenty of websites with helpful information, e.g. WEB OOS.

Break reminder software:
For PC users there is Break Reminder, and Apple Mac users can try AntiRSI.
Has anyone tried other methods or software?

Firefox 2.0 and IE 7 have been released

The latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer, IE 7, is available. It will be distributed via automatic updates for Windows XP from 1 November.

However, Firefox is our browser of choice, and the latest version, Firefox 2.0, was released today. New features include anti-phishing technology, protection from spyware, spell checking, and search suggestions.
